Growing up...

"Di..LINER !!!"
came the shout from my room.. n i rushed in...
It had been that way since almost an hour..
It varied from.
"Di.. NAILPAINT !!!"
to
"Di.. I dont know wat to do with my hair.. should I tie it up ??? should I pin it up ??? should i let it loose ???"
that despite the fact that i'd spent two hours in a saloon getting her an hair cut and set.. (making it the longest tym  I had ever spent there !!!)

But all this was to be expected... it was her big day after all... the "farewell".. :)

n the prepartions had been going on for almost a month...
every detail well thought out.. from the saree to the kind of high heels she wanted (and eventually got).. and the kind of jewellery that would go with it.. everything was planned..

Its is nostalgic to think my little kid sister has grown up so fast...!!!

There was a time wen I had to pester her to let me apply make up on her face.. (funny activities u get involved with as kids!!! )
an event which invariably occured when our parents went out of the house..
N it would be experimentation time with my mum's make up kit !!!
The results.. needless to say were quite comical.. and ended up with my sister's face becoming multicolored...
it really was one of my childhood artistic achievements.. ;)

N today.. paying a tribute to that talent of mine.. I was made the official "make-up incharge"...

Having just an age gap of three years.. we are pretty close..
we fought a lot of course.. n still do..
wen we wer children the fighting was mainly physical.. and included use of slaps, scratches, kicks n head butts..
over the years our technique evolved.. n following the footsteps of gandhiji.. employed non violence..
(that was partly smartness on my part.. my sis being active in sports made it a torture for me if i happened to be on the receiving end of the blows.. ;) so i decided ahimsa was the way to go.. ) hehe..
now wen we fight we just stop talking wid each other.. till d one who has erred doesn't apologize..
(though sometimes we simply forget we wer fighting n start talking normally.. its only later that one of us remembers n we continue wid our "no talking" phase...

we share similar likes, dislikes n interests !!!
she resembles me so much that people often confuse us as twins .. despite the 3 yrs age gap...!!!
over the years i've become accustomed to random people coming n saying "hi" to me !!!
some even start chatting with me before realizing that i'm not my sister !!! ;)
If unfortunately i had to go to some function with mom n dad.. without my sister..
I had to be mentally prepared to be greeted by "badi wali ko nahi laye ???" ;)
Then had to get down to explaining that I am the "badi wali".. :D

Its difficult to come to terms with the fact that the choti wali has indeed become "badi"..
seeing her at her graduation ceremony last night was all d proof I required !!!
dressed up in graduation robes with a graduation cap on her head.. (we didn't have all this when i graduated from high school).. there is only one word i can use to describe the way she looked.. "mature"..!!!

She's off to her farewell ceremony now.. looking pretty as a doll..
She also assigned me the duty of her "official chauffer"  for the evening.. something i consider an honour !!! ;)
Have dropped her to the ceremony...
And I can't be anymore proud than I am right now.... :) :D
